Hadsar Fort, located in Junnar, Pune region, was strategically built to defend an ancient profitable trade route via Naneghat from Kalyan to the Mawal region. The fort boasts a spectacular bastion design, and its unique gate sets it apart from other forts. Its establishment dates back to the Satavahana Era. The fort's architecture is unparalleled, featuring a sculpted entrance gate, compartments for sentries, rainwater reservoirs, and rock-cut steps, all carved from a single rock.
At the summit of Hadsar Fort, you can pay your respects at the Mahadev temple, adorned with rock-carved statues of Hanuman, Garud, and Ganesh. The fort also houses a vast rainwater reservoir. The base village for the Hadsar Fort Trek is Hadsar village, located 14 km from Junnar. There are two trekking routes to reach the summit. The southern route is comfortable, passing through the main gate, while the northern route offers a thrilling but challenging rock climbing path.
